Your New Role…
We currently have an opportunity for a lawyer with digital and traditional advertising and marketing experience to join the Warner Bros. Discovery, International Content Licensing Department, supporting the Warner Bros. Discovery International marketing groups in the EMEA region. This position is a broad commercial role involving a diverse scope of work and content.
Your Role Accountabilities...
Provide legal support and documentation to assist in implementing marketing plans for the home entertainment (physical and digital) and TV distribution of the Company’s movies, tv series and animation in the region, together with supporting the marketing activities of the DC franchise, the Wizarding World franchise, the Kids business, local production businesses and the company’s channels and services throughout EMEA. In particular, provide legal advice in creating and implementing promotions, publicity, media, targeted marketing, creative advertising, special programs, competitions, festivals, screenings and special events in association with marketing campaigns and activities.
Work closely with the marketing groups across various business divisions to develop and successfully execute multi-layered campaigns, which include, among other activations, real time marketing, native advertising, social media and influencer campaigns, and user generated content activations.
Evaluate competitions, apps, websites, games, children’s websites, podcasts and VR activations from development through launch for legal compliance.
Review, draft and negotiate a variety of agreements, including partner co-promotion and sponsorship agreements, website/social media competition agreements, content license agreements, advertising agency and media agreements, software license and platform license agreements, social influencer agreements, marketing vendor agreements, production agreements, venue agreements, live streaming, and consumer data-related agreements with respect to marketing campaigns.
Work together with the D&I and CSR teams to promote the Company’s D&I initiatives including corporate sponsorships, school scholarships and bursaries and educational programmes.
Advise, clear and draft agreements in relation to behind-the-scenes/promotional specials including ad-pub reviews, talent contract checks, in-context promotional music clearance (including managing any payments to bodies such as the musicians union), review of third party IP, rights management and clip length checks.
Liaise with colleagues in Clearance/Labor Relations in U.S. to provide up-to-date advice in relation to Guild issues.
Advise in relation to branding and marketing provisions in license agreements and produce templates and guidelines.
Advise in relation to online safety and social media guidelines in respect of campaigns targeted at children.
Structure, review and draft sweepstakes and contest rules and review supporting marketing materials and partner sponsored promotions.
Review and clear marketing collateral and materials, including compliance with local regulations, internal clearances and Guild issues.
Review and liaise with privacy and data protection legal support regarding privacy and data elements of marketing campaigns and activations.
Managing know-how and template documents for EMEA territories and keeping up to date on relevant regulatory and legal issues (for example ASA rulings).
Qualifications & Experience...
Qualified as Solicitor in United Kingdom.
Relevant law firm and/or in-house experience.
Extensive knowledge of content and channel marketing.
Well-versed in EMEA and EU marketing and advertising regulations, including local broadcasting codes (e.g. OFCOM). Familiarity with voluntary industry standards (DAA, MMA, etc.) and European online safety requirements preferred.
Able to build strong internal client relationships, effectively advise senior-level executives and produce strong client satisfaction through practical and strategic thinking.
