Join Pipeworks Studios and make your mark on the gaming industry as a Senior Materials Game Artist on an exciting, recently announced Unreal-based AAA project. As a Senior Materials Game Artist, you will be responsible for creating high-quality materials and textures in Substance Designer that enhance the visual appeal and immersion of the game's environments and assets. You will work closely with the Project Art director and art team to ensure that all materials meet artistic and technical standards.

Day To Day


Responsibilities
  • Create materials for individual projects as needed
  • Work with the Project Art Director to determine project requirements, then research, develop, and implement it in engine
  • Research and stay up to date on current techniques and utilize most relevant processes for each task
  • Work with other departments as needed
  • Work independently and provide accurate time estimations for project planning
  • Work effectively with other artists and engineers to achieve project goals
  • Solve problems to the benefit of the project/team

Skills Knowledge and Expertise


Must Haves
  • Understanding of Maya and/or Max
  • Ability to create environment textures with Substance Designer
  • Ability to create or create based on concepts that are in various stages of completion
  • Work with the environment artists at supporting their work
  • Understanding of what tasks fall under design vs. art
  • Works closely with Technical Artists to develop new shaders if needed
  • Ability to keep a clear and consistent schedule
  • Strong written and verbal communication skill
  • Unreal experience is required; familiarity with Unity is also preferred
  • Provide accurate time estimates for project planning
  • Understanding of bug fixing and investigation

Nice-To-Have Skills
  • Ability to create realistic materials as well as stylized material
  • Ability to do general 3D work

Education & Experience Required
  • Any degree or certification in relevant field or equivalent work experience AND
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar role
