NVIDIA seeks a Senior Safety Architect for Linux to lead safety architectural discussions for Linux-based platforms, focusing on safety, security, and quality. Collaborating with product owners and Linux distro vendors, this role requires expertise in Linux kernel, ARM architecture, virtualization, and safety certification (ISO 26262). Responsibilities include representing NVIDIA in Linux safety initiatives, contributing to Safe Linux development, and aligning safety needs with DriveOS. The ideal candidate possesses 10+ years of experience in device driver design, safety architecture for complex software, and proficiency in C/Python programming and debugging tools.
Must have:
  • 10+ years experience in embedded systems
  • Expert in Linux kernel, ARM architecture
  • Safety architecture experience (ISO 26262)
  • Proficient in C programming and debugging
  • Experience with virtualization
Good to have:
  • Experience with ISO 21434
  • Linux community contribution
  • Industry safety forum representation

Job Details

We are looking for a Senior Safety Architect for Linux for our Tegra System Software Team with a good understanding of technologies like - Linux kernel, ARM architecture, low level system software technologies like virtualization and proven track record of developing and analyzing safety architecture for complex software and taking them through safety certification activities.

Candidate is encouraged to collaborate with product owners and DriveOS elements to communicate and drive technical alignment in the Safe Linux initiative. Additionally, engage with distro vendors to help us develop fast, robust and safe systems used in Automotive, Embedded and Data Center products.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead safety architectural discussion with Safe Linux, DriveOS and other product owners, architects for Linux based platforms focused on safety, security and quality

  • Work with Linux distro vendors to align safety, security and quality needs for DriveOS

  • Represent NVIDIA in the Linux safety initiatives in the open source community and industry wide safety forums

  • Contribute and support development of work products for Safe Linux

What we need to see:

  • BS/MS or equivalent experience in electrical engineering, computer science, or computer engineering.

  • 10+ years of experience with device driver design and development on embedded systems.

  • Proven track record of architecting complex software for Safety with background with ISO26262 or other safety standards

  • Excellent C programming, scripting (Python) and debugging skills.

  • Solid understanding of computer architecture, operating system fundamentals.

  • Experience developing drivers on Linux, QNX, or other RTOS on 32/64-bit ARM SoC.

  • Hands-on experience with Debugging Tools JTAG, DSTREAM.

  • A strong teammate; self-motivated with positive demeanor.

  • Demonstrates leadership through module or project ownership.

  • Recognized internal / external specialist.

  • Defines modules or projects for a department.

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Experience with ISO21434 or other security standards

  • Collaborate with Linux community in upstreaming efforts

  • Experience of representation in industry wide open source and safety forums
