Job Description

Google's Pixel Mobile Experiences team seeks a Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain software solutions enhancing the Pixel user experience. Responsibilities include defining and implementing Pixel-specific capabilities, integrating AI features, collaborating with UX designers, working with hardware and product teams, exploring new mobile and AI technologies, and writing technical designs. The ideal candidate will have Android development experience (Java/Kotlin), data structure/algorithm expertise, and a passion for creating exceptional user experiences.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
2+ years software development experience (Java/Kotlin)
2+ years Android app development experience
Experience with data structures and algorithms
Design, develop, and maintain software solutions

Good to have:

Master's/PhD in Computer Science
Experience with performance analysis and debugging
Experience with accessible technologies
Swift/C++ experience
Software test engineering proficiency

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an academic or industry setting, and with Android application development.
Experience working on Java or Kotlin.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
2 years of experience with performance, large-scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging.
Experience developing accessible technologies.
Experience working on Swift/C++.
Proficiency in code and system health, diagnosis and resolution, and software test engineering.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain software solutions that improve the user's Pixel experience. Define and implement Pixel-specific capabilities that make Pixel stand out amongst all Android devices.
Ensure seamless integration of AI capabilities into Pixel's software and hardware components. Work closely with UX designers to advocate user-centric, intuitive design principles and advocate for user delight and accessibility.
Collaborate with hardware, product management, and other teams to bring Pixel's unique features and experiences to market.
Explore and experiment with new mobile and AI technologies, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible on mobile devices.
Write technical designs and participate in technical discussions.
