Job Description

As a Software Engineer II in Google's Buyable Corpus team, you'll contribute to enhancing the platform used for web extractions, focusing on extracting product information and user sentiments from sources like the web and YouTube. You'll optimize large-scale data processing infrastructure, improve offer quality (attributes, freshness), and expand coverage of high-quality retailer domains. Collaboration across Commerce and Search teams is key, sharing data and solutions. You'll develop systems focusing on data mining, experiments, logging, and metrics, creating new infrastructure to improve Shopping corpus. The role involves improving cost/latency of offer discovery and data processing, and influencing Google Search index composition and ranking.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
1+ years software development (Python, C++, Java, etc.)
1+ years experience with data structures/algorithms
1+ years building/developing infrastructure or distributed systems
Create well-lit path for Web Extractions platform
Optimize large scale data processing infrastructure

Good to have:

Data Mining experience
Scalable data processing interest
Machine Learning experience
C++ and SQL knowledge

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
1 year of experience with data structures or algorithms.
1 year of experience building and developing infrastructure or distributed systems.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience with Data Mining, interest in scalable data processing.
Experience with Machine Learning.
Knowledge of C++ and SQL.

We support and partner with the commerce ecosystem, from large retailers to small local merchants, to give them the tools, technology and scale to thrive in today’s digital world.

Responsibilities

Create a well-lit path for Web Extractions platform to be used by all teams at Shopping to extract information and user sentiments about products from the external sources (web, YT etc).
Optimise the large scale data processing infrastructure: improve costs/latency of the offer discovery and data processing.
Improve the various aspects of the offer's quality such as attribute richness, data freshness. Improve the coverage of high-quality (trusted, reliable) retailer domains in the corpus and the depth of their inventory coverage.
Work across Commerce and Search: share data, signals, tech solutions across organization and tech stack boundaries. Influence Google Search index composition and ranking.
Develop systems and solutions with a focus on Data mining, Experiments, Logging, Metrics and the associated infrastructure. Create new-to-Google infrastructure which enable step-function improvements in Shopping corpus.
