Job Description

This role involves analyzing and improving the performance of Machine Learning (ML) models, contributing to the research and development of performance algorithms, and creating automated processes to enhance ML performance at Google. Responsibilities include implementing solutions in ML areas, utilizing ML infrastructure, and collaborating with peers on design and code reviews. The ideal candidate will have experience in software development (C++, Python), data structures/algorithms, compilers, or accelerators, along with a strong understanding of ML modeling techniques. Experience with post-training quantization and foundational models is preferred. This is a full-time position within Google's Technical Infrastructure team.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent
2 years software development experience (C++, Python)
1 year experience in compilers/accelerators
Analyze and improve ML model performance
Contribute to performance algorithm R&D

Good to have:

Master's/PhD in Computer Science
Experience with post-training quantization
Experience with foundational and large language models
Understanding of ML modeling techniques

Minimum qualifications:

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
Experience with post-training quantization, quantized aware training, or quantized training for ML models.
Experience with foundational models and Large Language Models.
Understanding of the ML modeling techniques and trends.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $136,000-$200,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

Analyze and improve performance of Machine Learning (ML) models.
Contribute to research and development of performance algorithms.
Contribute to the creation of automated processes to advance the adoption of performance improvements in Google's Machine Learning (ML).
Implement solutions in ML areas, utilize ML infrastructure, and contribute to model enhancement and data processing.
Collaborate with peers and stakeholders through design and code reviews to ensure standard procedures amongst available technologies (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
