Job Description

As a Software Engineer, Search Platforms, Scale Experiments, you will help make Google Search more useful, delightful, and dependable for users globally. You'll build performant, reliable, and trustworthy experimentation infrastructure enabling data-driven decisions. Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and owning software solutions to speed up Search experimentation; working on projects ranging from C++ pipelines processing Search queries to investigative systems with data scientists; guiding junior engineers; innovating survey tools; and directly influencing how Search engineers gather information and make decisions. You'll solve challenging problems and improve latency and reliability on backends affecting Search engineers' experiences. The role requires fluent English communication due to customer-facing interactions.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
2 years software development experience
2 years experience with data structures/algorithms
Fluent English communication
Design, implement, and own software solutions
Work with C++ pipelines and data scientists
Guide junior engineers

Good to have:

Master's/PhD in Computer Science
4 years software development experience (C++, Java, Kotlin, Python, JavaScript)
Experience with accessible technologies
Monitoring, alerting, documentation, integration testing, production support
Large-scale data processing pipeline experience
Cross-team collaboration experience

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
Ability to communicate in English fluently as this is a customer-facing role that requires interactions in English with local stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science or related technical fields.
4 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., C++, Java, Kotlin, Python, JavaScript).
Experience developing accessible technologies.
Experience monitoring and alerting, documentation, integration testing, Production hygiene and support processes.
Experience in large-scale data processing pipelines, collaboration across teams, timezones and Integration tests.

Responsibilities

Deliver end-to-end task such as design, implement, and own the software solutions that will speed up Search experimentation.
Work on a variety of projects from robust C++ pipelines that process all the Search queries on the fly to implementing to investigative systems in partnership with data scientists.
Share your expertise by helping guide more junior engineers.
Innovate, explore and develop cutting-edge solutions that enhance our survey tools capabilities and security.
Work directly and influence how Search engineers gather information and make decisions. Solve challenging problems, improve latency and reliability on backends that affect Search engineers experience.
