This is a long-term contract role for a Communications Specialist with a leading healthcare organization in Rochester, MN. The role involves developing and executing communication strategies for the Cardiovascular (CV) Department, collaborating with leadership, overseeing internal and external communications, supporting various projects, modernizing the CV newsletter, and proactively identifying opportunities to advance the department's mission. Responsibilities include providing strategic communications consultation, implementing communication plans, ensuring consistency and alignment across communications, and adapting to changing priorities. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 3 years of professional experience, preferably in healthcare.

As a Communications Specialist within the Cardiovascular (CV) Department, you will play a key role in driving strategic communications initiatives that support the organization’s mission to innovate and improve patient care. You’ll collaborate closely with department leadership to develop and execute communication strategies that foster clarity, engagement, and alignment across various projects and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic communications consultation to department chairs, managers, and supervisors.
  • Develop, implement, and measure communication plans that align with the CV department’s mission and strategic objectives.
  • Oversee internal and external communications to ensure consistency and alignment.
  • Support communications for departmental and institutional projects throughout their lifecycle.
  • Modernize and maintain the CV newsletter to keep stakeholders informed and engaged.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to advance the department’s mission through strategic messaging.
  • Adapt quickly to changing priorities and communication strategies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business, healthcare, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in communications or a related field.
  • Strong preference for candidates with healthcare industry experience.
  • Familiarity with WordPress is a plus.

Eligibility for benefits requires a minimum of 30 hours per week and a 10-week assignment length.
