EveryMatrix seeks an experienced Director of Photography (DP) for a 3-month contract to lead visual aspects of live TV productions. Responsibilities include overseeing all visual elements, collaborating with technical teams on visual style and camera work, managing camera crews, designing lighting setups, troubleshooting technical issues, ensuring visual quality, operating cameras, and collaborating with post-production. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of experience in live TV production, strong knowledge of broadcast systems, and excellent communication skills.
Must have:
  • 5-10 years experience as DP in live TV production
  • Strong knowledge of broadcast camera systems, lighting
  • Excellent understanding of live broadcast workflows
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues quickly
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
Good to have:
  • Experience with multi-camera live productions
  • Proficiency in using live broadcast equipment
  • Knowledge of color grading software

About the job:

We are seeking an experienced Director of Photography (DP) to lead the visual aspects of our live television productions. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of lighting, camera operation, and visual storytelling to deliver high-quality, engaging broadcasts.

What you'll get to do:

  • Oversee all visual elements of live TV productions, ensuring a cohesive and high-quality visual presentation.
  • Collaborate closely with the technical teams to plan and execute the visual style and camera work for each production.
  • Thorough expertise in chroma key lighting techniques.
  • Manage and direct camera crews, ensuring precise operation and framing during live broadcasts.
  • Design and implement effective lighting setups tailored to live television environments.
  • Supervise the setup, testing, and operation of all cameras, lighting, and related equipment.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues during live productions to minimize disruptions.
  • Ensure consistency in visual quality and adherence to broadcast standards.
  • Operate cameras or switch between feeds as needed during live broadcasts.
  • Collaborate with post-production teams to ensure smooth transitions from live to recorded content.

What You Need to Shine:

  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience as a Director of Photography, with a focus on live TV production.
  • Strong knowledge of broadcast camera systems, lighting design, and live switching.
  • Familiarity with various cameras, lenses, and support equipment.
  • Excellent understanding of live broadcast workflows and production protocols.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues quickly and effectively during live broadcasts.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with multi-camera live productions.
  • Proficiency in using live broadcast equipment and technologies.
  • Knowledge of color grading software is a plus.
