We are looking for a Hardware Engineer that can help close the gap between design and manufacturing by working closely with the factory teams to own the integration of various power and sensing technology modules in the iPhone. This is done in partnership with multiple teams including factory, EE, architecture, FW, system EE, silicon, noise and vibration, safety, thermal, reliability, operations, regulatory teams and more. This role involves technical engagement for on-site build support starting from product concept stage and engineering prototype builds, all the way up until release to mass production.
Description
You will be at the centre of iPhone product development, driving failure analysis and key validation activities of technical multi-functional issues at the Contract Manufacturer’s site across various engineering builds. This involves working daily with multi-functional technology partners in a fast paced environment across a variety of time zones including India, China, US and New Zealand. Additionally, you will work closely with the engineering teams employed by the contract manufacturers to help train them on product-specific technology to enable them to drive a lot of the day-to-day activities during an Apple engineering build including build reporting, failure analysis, design of experiment execution, verification and validation activities, and general build logistics. - System bring-up, characterisation, testing and validation - System-level problem solving - failure analysis, root cause & corrective action proposal - Debug test sequences on automated test equipment - Design of Experiments (DOE) creation, execution and data analysis - Write technical documentation (Eg. requirements, specifications and test plans) - Review and analyse build data to help advise critical program decisions. Provide detailed build report summaries and present findings with clear summaries and takeaways. - Occasional international travel may be required

3+ years proven experience in related field (ideally consumer or high volume product development environment)
- Proven fundamentals in both analog and digital design and comfortable with solving new challenges with critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Familiar with various communication protocols (USB, SPMI, SPI, I2C and UART) and low power embedded systems.
- Experience working with multi-functional FW partners. Direct coding experience in languages such as Python, Matlab and C is preferred.
- Hands-on experience in prototype bring-up, debugging, and functional verification.
- Experience with high volume product design and manufacturing as well as statistical production tolerance analysis. Good understanding of Gauge R&R methodology would be a plus.
- Strong communication (written & verbal) in English.
