Senior Data Scientist

Your role within our Kingdom:

This role sits within our Experimentation Platform Team, which is a mixed team consisting of circa 5-7 Data Scientists/Engineers and Software Engineers. As our new Senior Data Scientist you will be reporting into and collaborating with the Engineering Manager of the team, where you’ll play a pivotal role to help us to further our Experimentation Platform and be part of a community of 100+ data science & analytics experts in a fun, dynamic and fast-paced environment!

Specifically, you’ll:

• Drive and design robust AB testing features in our experimentation platform
• Collaborate with product managers, technical directors and other partners to define experimentation goals and requirements
• Provide an analytics perspective to discussions and prioritisation within your team, so that the overall team selects the right ideas to work on
• Optimise experimentation processes and workflows to improve efficiency and reliability with the business users in mind
• Participate in code reviews, information sharing sessions, and multi-functional meetings to champion a culture of collaboration and learning
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and standard methodologies in AB testing and experimentation

Our ideal candidate will have solid experience working with technical projects in an analytical team in a commercial environment. There is plenty of scope at King for you to learn from your colleagues in the areas where you have less experience, and to share your own skills where you are stronger.

Specific factors that are useful to excel in this role include:

• AB testing expertise: The ability to design, implement, and analyze AB tests to better understand player interactions and optimize their experience within our games
• Collaboration management: The ability to recognise dependencies, form relationships and influence others
• Business insight: The ability to recognise the real problems and issues our games and business wants to solve, and then defining the right data, analysis or interpretation to lead to the right recommendations and decisions
• Communication: Designing good ways of communicating, visualising or reporting results/analysis so they are clear, rigorous and unambiguous
• SQL: The ability to write complex SQL queries to analyse our databases with over a billion players and work with relational database systems
• Analytical coding: Using tools such as R or Python for analytical purposes
• Software engineering skills: The ability to participate in software development methodologies and design. Or if not, a keen interest in doing so.

Other experience that might be useful, but is not required, includes:

• Familiarity with massive data sets and tools to deal with them (BigQuery/AWS/Hadoop etc)
• Deep knowledge of different AB testing methodologies such as Sequential and Bayesian.
• Experience in behavioural psychology/economics and experimental design
• Experience in predictive analytics, segmentation, and related areas
• Work in the games industry or similarly customer-facing digital businesses
