Google Search is reimagining information search. As a Senior Software Engineer (Android, Search), you'll design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions. You'll write and test code, review code from others, contribute to documentation, debug and resolve issues, and participate in design reviews. The role requires expertise in Android application development, data structures/algorithms, and software design/architecture. You'll work on projects impacting billions of users globally, managing project priorities and deadlines. Responsibilities include contributing to existing documentation, triaging product issues, and leading design reviews.
Must have:
  • 5+ years software development experience
  • 3+ years Android app development
  • 3+ years testing/launching software
  • Data structures/algorithms expertise
  • Software design & architecture experience
Good to have:
  • Master's degree in CS
  • Experience with large-scale systems
  • Technical leadership experience
  • Experience developing accessible technologies

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • 3 years of experience with Android application development.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience with performance, large scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, and/or debugging.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Write and test product or system development code.
  • Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
