This Software Engineer III role within Google's Search Infrastructure team focuses on developing and maintaining scalable, high-performance software solutions. Responsibilities include contributing to full-stack development (Java, Python, Typescript, Javascript, UI technologies), collaborating with cross-functional teams, optimizing server-side performance and infrastructure, and ensuring solutions meet business needs. The ideal candidate will have experience with large-scale systems, data analysis, and possess strong problem-solving skills. They will deliver end-to-end tasks, identify technical problems, propose solutions, and plan/execute work to meet project deadlines. The role involves working on projects critical to Google's Search infrastructure, impacting billions of users globally.
Must have:
  • 2+ years software development experience
  • Data structures and algorithms expertise
  • Experience launching scalable software
  • Proficiency in Java, Python, Javascript, or Typescript
  • Excellent communication skills
Good to have:
  • Master's degree in CS
  • Experience with large-scale system analysis
  • Experience developing accessible technologies
  • Knowledge of browser rendering and performance tuning
  • Familiarity with Chrome DevTools

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in software development and with data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience in testing and launching scalable software products.
  • Experience in one programming language (i.e., Java, Python, Javascript, Typescript) and related frontend technologies, with experience in web client infrastructure.
  • Ability to communicate in English fluently to support client relationship management in this region.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • 2 years of experience with performance, large scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, and/or debugging.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
  • Basic knowledge of browser rendering lifecycles, performance tuning, and infrastructure optimization.
  • Familiarity with Chrome DevTools and related web technologies for UI rendering.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver end-to-end tasks toward larger goals with minimal assistance from senior team members.
  • Contribute to the design and development of full-stack solutions, utilizing your skills in Java, Python, Typescript, Javascript, UI rendering technologies, libraries and frameworks, server-side optimizations, and infrastructure performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure solutions meet business needs and can adapt to future challenges.
  • Identify technical problems with requirements and proposing solutions to help the team course-correct when necessary.
  • Plan, prioritize, and execute work to meet project deadlines.
