Job Description

As a Software Engineering Manager for Google's Customer Conversations Platform, you'll lead engineering teams through the entire software development lifecycle, deploying distributed systems with ML capabilities. You'll participate in design, architecture, roadmap decisions, and drive projects from inception to completion. Collaboration with Product, UX, and Program teams is crucial, as is mentoring and coaching engineers. Maintaining engineering excellence standards and collaborating with other engineering teams are key responsibilities. The team focuses on building Alphabet’s next generation Service Desk platform to serve the needs of the sales and support ecosystem. This platform enables problem resolution for agents, supervisors, managers, analysts, engineers, and business leaders.
Must have:
  • 8+ years software development experience
  • 3+ years technical leadership
  • 2+ years people management
  • Manage full software development lifecycle
  • Deploy distributed systems with ML
Good to have:
  • Experience with AI, Java, distributed systems
  • Stakeholder management, API design, data analytics
  • Collaboration across organizational boundaries

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience collaborating across organizational boundaries and constraints to drive alignment.
  • Experience with leadership, management, distributed systems, and API design.
  • Experience with artificial intelligence, stakeholder management, Java, enterprise platform, and data analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering teams through the full software development life-cycle, develop and deploy distributed systems with ML powered capabilities.
  • Participate/lead design, architectural, roadmap, prioritization, and operational decisions, driving software engineering projects from definition to delivery and maintenance.
  • Communicate and collaborate with various stakeholders across Product, UX, Program, and recruit engineers, mentoring and coaching them to develop their skills, while setting the team idea, strategy, and goals.
  • Maintain standards and best practices for engineering excellence, and support collaboration with other engineering teams.
