Job Description

As a Technical Program Manager (TPM) in the Cloud Compute team at Google, you'll ensure the reliability of Google Compute Engine (GCE) and GCP products built on it. You'll collaborate with Infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) and Site Reliability Engineering leadership in key program decisions, managing day-to-day projects, supporting Compute SRE programs, and promoting project management best practices. You'll work with cross-functional partners, manage teams, coordinate cross-team dependencies, and interface with stakeholders to plan, execute, and prioritize project deliverables. This role requires strong communication, technical expertise, and the ability to adapt to a changing environment. The focus is on ensuring the reliability of runtimes infrastructure, VMs, Persistent Disks, and the GCE Control plane.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
5+ years program management experience
2+ years coding or system design experience
Collaborate with IaaS and SRE leadership
Manage cross-functional teams and projects
Promote project management best practices

Good to have:

Experience in technical program management with data
Excellent communication and creative thinking skills
Ability to adapt to a changing organization

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience in program management.
2 years of experience coding in a general purpose (e.g., Java, C, C++, Python, Shell, Go or JavaScript, etc.) or in system design.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience in technical program management in the context of data.
Ability to articulate thoughts clearly and communicate across teams and levels for e.g. Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) and Engineering.
Ability to change and adapt to meet the needs of a changing and growing organization.
Excellent communication and creative thinking skills.

As a Technical Program Manager (TPM) in the Cloud Compute team you will be ensuring reliability of both runtimes infrastructure and Google Compute Engine (GCE) along with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) products built on GCE, the Virtual Machines (VM), Persistent Disks, the GCE Control plane, and Unified Control Plane Platform are critical to providing enterprise level GCP offerings. You will help in achieving these goals.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with Infrastructure-as-a-service (Iaas), site reliability engineering leadership in key program decision making, including scope definition, requirements gathering, staffing, planning and execution of programs.
Work with cross-functional partners and manage the work into teams in a process and scalable driven fashion.
Manage the day-to-day project by supporting the Compute Site Reliability Engineering programs and initiatives.
Promote project management best practices and drive change management across users of new processes and systems.
Coordinate cross-team and cross-site dependencies. Interface with internal customers, partner teams, and stakeholders to plan, execute, unblock and prioritize project deliverables.
