Entry-level animation technical assistant role, requires strong 3D animation portfolio, Maya proficiency, and problem-solving skills.
As the Animation Technical Assistant, you will hold an entry level position that will expose you to the animation pipeline and many aspects of the overall studio production pipeline. You will support a given Animation Team and help facilitate their job. This position takes direction from the Director of Animation and/or Lead Animators. 

Responsibilities

    • Strong portfolio showcasing 3D character animation  
    • Prepare, set and check shots and assets before Animation starts with shots. 
    • Assist and participate in technical meetings related to the preparation of Animation scenes. 
    • Follow-up with other departments, while troubleshooting issues until a solution is reached. 
    • Ability to solve technical problems as related to animation will be an important focus of this position, particularly as pertains to optimizing efficiency to mitigate issues that arise during shot production.  
    • Communication, collaboration, & troubleshooting across departments (e.g., TDs, production staff, and artists) to help improve processes and workflow. 
    • While this position reports into the Director of Animation, day-to-day collaboration will be closest with Skydance Animation East’s Animation Technical Director.  
    • Test new software, developments and/or features as needed. 
    • Assist with orientating/assimilating new Animators into our workflow. 
    • Ability to complete tasks within production schedules and deadlines in an organized manner 
    • Creativity, precision, and an eye for detail 
    • Ability to learn and adapt to new workflows and methods 

Requirements

    • Intermediate to expert proficiency with Maya. 
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
    • Problem-solving and troubleshooting in a technical environment. 
    • Experience with Windows environment. 
    • Scripting in Python is a plus. 
The hourly range for this non-exempt position in Los Angeles, California is $38.46 - $44.23 per hour. The rate offered may vary based on the candidate’s location, qualifications, experience and relevant expertise, among other factors.  The range indicated is for base salary only and does not reflect the total compensation package, including bonus, benefits, etc.

About Animation
