Job Description

The Opportunity: Mattel is seeking a versatile Social Media Content Creator/Producer.  The ideal candidate should be passionate about social media and adept at creating engaging content across various platforms including TikTok and Instagram, and possess basic video editing skills. As the lead content creator, they will work closely with our social media and influencer teams and the Brand Creative Manager to ideate, develop and execute content strategies to drive brand awareness, engagement and growth. They will travel to events and locations to capture and edit videos and still photography, and is able to produce any necessary content spontaneously.

What Your Impact Will Be: 

 

  • Content Creation: Develop engaging social media content concepts
  • Conceptualization: Collaborate with the Brand and Social teams to brainstorm and conceptualize ideas for product drops, behind the scenes for event and product development and evergreen content that aligns with our brand voice and objectives.
  • Video Production: Shoot and edit videos to produce visually appealing and shareable content. Perform clipping, captioning, reframing, reformatting, converting, and exporting, color correction/grading and sound mixing
  • Photo Production: Shoot still photography and provide basic photo retouching
  • Research: Stay updated on trends, audience preferences, and competitor strategies to inform content creation efforts.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with designers, copywriters, and other cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive and consistent messaging across all content channels.
  • Management: Manage assets and organize projects, bins and media. Troubleshoot, identify, and resolve technical issues 

Basically, you're going to be creating visual assets and content that will be viewed by the world’s biggest toy fanatics for one of the world's biggest #@$%! brands using the world's fastest-growing social platforms. So, you know... no biggie.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For: 

  • 0-1 years experience in conceptual art direction, motion design, videography, or video production in a highly creative in-house or agency environment preferred; excellent internship experience can be substituted
  • Experience concepting and developing social media marketing campaigns with a specific focus on video and photographic content
  • Prior experience creating and developing content specifically for the TikTok and Instagram platforms including a deep knowledge of the specs and requirements for each. Ability to optimize content for SEO and audience engagement to ensure maximum reach and impact is a plus.
  • Natural eye for visual storytelling, specifically with regard to concepting and art directing for short-form digital and social content
  • Experience working onsite at events and video shoots including on-the-fly art direction, talent management, and collaboration
  • Experience using handheld DSLR, phone, and video cameras to capture candid, unscripted, and scripted video and still content
  • Experience creating, editing, and color-grading video content using Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, or similar programs
  • Basic experience mixing and editing sound
  • Basic experience retouching still photography
  • An ability to tell a concise, complete, engaging, memorable story in a limited window of time
  • Have a pulse on culture as well as the latest social media content and trends
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to brainstorm, develop, and execute social media and video campaigns
  • Acute attention to detail and an ability to work within tight deadlines
  • An ability to take direction and work independently 
  • Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.
     

The annual base salary range for this position is $67,000.
