Job Description

As a Constructor Repairer, you will be responsible for the complete installation of Optical Fibre cable, ensuring customer expectations are met with minimal supervision. You will plan and execute infrastructure maintenance and upgrades according to prescribed standards, within the given timeframes. Working in a team, you'll deliver a premium level of service by ensuring all work is done efficiently, meeting quality standards and commitments. You will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with peers and key stakeholders. This role involves a continuous work roster and requires adherence to HSE responsibilities. You will also be responsible for maintaining network integrity.
Must have:
  • Heavy Plant knowledge and operating experience
  • Ripping experience
  • Understanding/willing to learn Plough Dozer
  • Re-instating/clearing
  • Manual labour duties
  • Truck Licence, HR-C (combination) essential

Focus of the Role

As Constructor Repairer, you will undertake the full range of end to end installation with the construction of Optical Fibre cable to meet our customers expectations with limited supervision or direction.

What You’ll Do

Telstra InfraCo - Operations & Asset Management oversees Telstra's operations and asset management functions.

  • Achieve faultless end to end construction of Optical Fibre cable, provisioning and maintenance of the customer access network and associated infrastructure through compliance to prescribed standards, practices and procedures, and to the full satisfaction of customers expectation.
  • Plan and undertake planned activities associated to infrastructure maintenance and upgrades, through compliance to prescribed standards, practices and procedures within given time lines
  • You will work within a team environment contributing to the delivery of a premium level of service to our customers by ensuring all work is undertaken in a timely and cost effective manner, meeting set quality standards and customer commitments.
  • You will establish and maintain effective working relationships with your peers and key internal and external stakeholders relevant to the achievement of business performance objectives
  • HSE Responsibility: Take reasonable care for your own safety and the safety of others, comply with and implement any reasonable Telstra HSE instruction, policy, standard, minimum requirement or procedure, and support Telstra to meet its duties under the relevant safety and environmental legislation.
  • Work in accordance with a continuous work roster of 18 nights away 10 nights home.
  • You will always maintain network integrity. ‘Always on” 
  • This role is for Fixed Term for 18 months (with the possibility of moving to permanent role)

About You

The Following skills and experience will help you to be successful in this role:

  • Heavy Plant knowledge and operating experience with Dozers, Excavators, Backhoe’s.
  • Ripping
  • Understanding/willing to learn Plough Dozer
  • Re-instating/clearing.
  • Manual labour duties associated with Plough construction- Pit and Pipe Install, Rod and Roping, Marker Post Installation, Re-Establishing property owner infrastructure fences, irrigation, Cleaning and Greasing heavy machinery for daily operations.
  • Truck Licence, HR-C (combination) essential. Maintain logbook for all truck driving duties required.
  • Roster- 18 days on/ 10 nights off (travel in work time)
