Job Description

The Controller will be responsible for efficiently running the accounting function of a fast-growing startup. The role involves executing all transactional aspects of financial accounting, maintaining the integrity of financial reporting systems, managing treasury operations, preparing external reports, owning month-end and year-end financial close activities, leading a team, and managing the tax process. The Controller will also act as a business partner to promote financial compliance and best practices. The role requires a CPA with significant experience and a strong understanding of US GAAP.

Must have:

CPA with 8+ years of Big4 experience and startup experience.
BA or BS in Accounting.
Strong knowledge of ASC principles, including 606 and 718.
Track record of building and managing a team of 5+ people.
Financial operations experience with US GAAP and Revenue Recognition.
Excellent communication skills to explain financial concepts.
Exceptional project management, analytical, and organizational skills.
Proactive self-starter who can prioritize and multi-task.

Good to have:

Familiarity with Airbase, Netsuite, and other financial tools.
Banking experience

We are looking for a Controller who understands how to efficiently run the accounting function of a fast growing startup. About the Role:

Execute all transactional aspects of Financial Accounting end to end including: bookkeeping, corporate banking operations of the US entity, keeping a record trail for all AP & AR items and other related aspects.
Maintain the integrity of the financial and reporting systems:

Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of income, balance sheet and cash flow statements in compliance with GAAP/IFRS and local statutory filing requirements.

Manage treasury operations and relationships with financial institutions.
Prepare external stakeholders reports, such as investors quarterly reporting and compliance reports with credit facilities.
Own month-end and year-end financial close activities and analysis, driving process improvements to streamline operations.
Lead a high performing team
Own the Global Financial Audit and all related procedural and compliance health of the US entity.
Lead and contribute globally process improvement initiatives to achieve financial goals.
Own, manage & streamline internal and external controls/approval processes.
Manage the tax process of the US entity from end to end.
Act as a strong business partner to promote and enhance financial compliance of internal controls and best practices across the organization.

Requirements for the Role:

CPA with 8+ years of Big4 experience & working in a similar role in a startup.
BA or BS in Accounting
Strong knowledge of ASC principles applying to early stage startups including 606 and 718.
Track record of building and managing a team of 5+ people.
Financial operations experience with strong understanding of US GAAP and Revenue Recognition.
Experience from financial technology or other industries which bring similar industry and regulatory dynamics to that of Novo.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to break down complex concepts and communicate financial risks and solutions to various stakeholders.
Exceptional project management, analytical, and organizational skills.
Proactive self-starter who enjoys a fast-paced environment and an ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet pressing deadlines.
Highest standards of accuracy and precision, having an eye for detail and effectively driving cost savings efforts.
Ability to switch between strategic and operational mindsets in order to adapt to day-to-day situations.

Compensation:

$200,000 - $220,000
