Who are we hiring?

Sphere is looking for a Manager of Production to join a highly collaborative production department based in Los Angeles. As the creative content shop for MSG Sphere projects, we strive to deliver content that has never been witnessed before on displays that have never been seen at this scale. This role will lead a team of coordinators and assistants in managing the day-to-day production logistics of multiple projects while developing budgets, schedules, travel movements in adherence to studio policies.

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Production, this role will ensure all productions are fully supported logistically while tracking daily costs and projected budgets. They will support the Production team in leading various live action shoots for Sphere experiences, residencies, content library, and internal technical testing. In addition, this role will be responsible for overseeing the hiring of crew, securing of equipment, and timely delivery of media to internal teams.

The ideal candidate has physical production experience in television, film, and commercials. They possess the ability to quickly problem solve and pivot as necessary to ensure the success of a project. They should have a proven track record of maintaining deadlines and working within budgetary parameters. Both strong negotiation skills and interpersonal skills will allow them to manage large crews and maintain effective communication within the team and internal departments.

What will you do? 

  • Work closely with Capture, Directors of Production, and Heads of Departments to gather all logistical needs for live action shoots.
  • Create and distribute shooting calendars and schedules across all projects.
  • Facilitate the hiring and onboarding of day players and assess internal staffing needs.
  • Set up and maintain vendor accounts.
  • Oversee all logistics including equipment rentals, location needs, travel, timely payroll submissions, etc.
  • Manage callsheets, production reports, and various production documentation and distribute them as needed.
  • Work closely with Directors of Production on budgeting and cost reporting needs.
  • Collaborate with Risk Management to ensure all insurance requirements are met and each project is covered as needed.
  • Act as point person for Finance to support the coding and timely processing of invoices and crew payments.
  • Deliver detailed wrap documentation upon completion of each project.

What do you need to succeed? 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a production manager working in live action, studio, or independent productions.
  • Experience with broad range production software including Movie Magic Budgeting, Scheduling and Scenechronize.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 360, Excel, Slack, Airtable, Power Point
  • Ability to motivate and support team members while fostering growth opportunities.
  • Excellent skills at prioritization in a fast-paced, high-pressured environment.

Pay Range
$83,000$115,000 USD
