Project logistics is a specialized subset of the logistics industry that requires a fully integrated approach to the global orchestration of material flow, order management and shipment execution from multiple origins to a defined site location, including transportation of regular, out of gauge cargo (OOG) and other sensitive cargo across various transport modes (Ocean, Air and Land) with the objective to deliver in full, complete, on time and in the right sequence per the customer’s project plan and schedule.

At Maersk, our Project Logistics product teams combine traditional freight forwarding and transport capabilities with the highly specialized skills and competencies needed for complex project planning, transport engineering, procurement, and Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality (HSSEQ) compliance. Our experts are skilled in project transport solution design, special cargo transportation, specialized transport asset management, and project management services, including detailed planning, orchestration, and sequencing of end-to-end shipments from suppliers to often remote and austere destination sites.

By leveraging our strong brand and capacity control across our products combined with strong project logistics capabilities, Maersk offers our customers a competitive advantage to deliver project logistics outcomes with a high degree of reliability and resiliency. 

In this role you will review, oversee, and develop local work processes that allow project teams to work within regulatory requirements and meet customer needs.

On any given day, the Operations Manager will be

  • Oversee, lead, direct and manage the fiscal and overall operations at a local level to ensure that growth and profitability goals and objectives are met
  • Plan and implement appropriate resources at local level (staffing, training, equipment, and systems) to ensure contractual compliance and delivery of quality services that meet and exceed the customer’s expectations
  • Leading the management of expectations for local Project teams, facilitates communication on business requirements and establishes critical performance metrics
  • Provide the MPL local operations team with daily guidance, leadership and overall support on any issues relating to operations, communication, revenue enhancement, human resources, procedures standardization, systems applications, and process execution.
  • Work collaboratively with Senior Project Managers to ensure efficient operations according to customer requirements
  • Develop continuous improvement methodology in key areas of service profit and growth aligned with Operations team
  • Develop customer relationships and ensure that customer service and operational levels within the local operations are maintained
  • Oversee and manage the professional development and productivity of direct reports to ensure proper goals, training, professional development and project requirements are met
