Job Description

The Operational Security Risk Mitigation Specialist at Google's GSRS team will be responsible for communicating complex risk information to both technical and non-technical audiences. They will partner with risk owners and security managers to implement risk mitigation controls, support threat and vulnerability risk assessments (TVRA), and monitor control effectiveness. The role also involves staying updated on emerging threats, best practices, and regulations, and contributing to the development of risk management policies and standards. This requires strong communication, investigative, and problem-solving skills, along with experience in building security resilience programs and project management.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years building security resilience programs
  • 5+ years project management experience
  • 5+ years controlling and mitigating security risks
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Good to have:
  • PSP, CPP, or other relevant security certifications
  • Experience in law enforcement, military, or security consulting
  • Proficiency in risk management tools and methodologies

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience building business plans for implementing security resilience programs impacting teams across multiple regions.
  • 5 years of experience in project management, including developing solutions and influencing stakeholders at all levels across an organization.
  • 5 years of experience controlling security risks, and developing methods to reduce or mitigate these threats.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Professional certifications such as PSP, CPP, or other relevant security certifications.
  • Experience in law enforcement, military, or security consulting.
  • Excellent attention to detail and proficiency in risk management tools and methodologies.
  • Ability to take initiative, be motivated, and able to work well separately and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication, investigative and problem-solving skills.

As a member of GSRS you will help develop a culture where safety, security and resiliency are integrated into every facet of Google, including the creative process. You will help us continually identify, evaluate and monitor enterprise risks that could affect business activities and provide business leaders the information they need to make critical decisions. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to create innovative strategies and develop programs that drive sustainable effectiveness.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$221,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Communicate complex risk information and compliance requirements in a clear and concise manner to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Partner with risk owners and security managers on the development and implementation of controls to mitigate unacceptable risks.
  • Support and participate in the conduct of threats, vulnerability risk assessments (TVRA).
    Monitor the effectiveness of deployed controls. Conduct other duties and assessments as needed.
  • Stay updated on emerging operational security threats, physical security best practices, risk mitigation strategies and evolving security regulations.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of risk management policies, procedures and operational security standards to meet regulatory requirements.
