The Principal CFD Application Engineer will work on advanced CFD simulations for aerospace, automotive, turbomachinery, and marine industries. Responsibilities include developing technical solutions, integrated workflows, scripting, and simulations. The role involves customer interaction, training, and documentation, while also identifying opportunities for product enhancement. The engineer will also communicate customer needs and feedback to the research and development and marketing teams. They also assist in technical presentations.

The Principal CFD Application Engineer role offers an opportunity to join an exciting and highly motivated team, where your knowledge of CFD will be used to help our customers succeed in advanced CFD simulations in the aerospace, automotive, turbomachinery, industrial, marine industries and more. Using Cadence’s suite of CFD tools you will develop creative and innovative solutions for customers, benchmark product capabilities for a wide range of flow regimes and phenomena, advocate for best practices, and collaborate with members of the sales and product teams.

Job Duties

· Develop technical solutions for industrial CFD applications in aerospace, automotive, turbomachinery, and marine.

· Develop integrated workflows with multiple tools to facilitate optimization and process enhancements

· Workflow development includes scripting, geometry preparation, mesh generation, and RANS/DES/LES CFD simulations in Cadence CFD products

· Develop skills/knowledge to become multi-product specialist, able to provide expert consultancy and work directly on pre-sales and post-sales customer projects

· Participate in support meetings at customer sites and virtually

· Deliver customer training classes in-person or virtually

· Write knowledge collateral and documentation related to customer education

· Recognize and identify opportunities to proliferate Cadence products

· Communicate customer requirements and feedback from support engagements to the Research and Development and Marketing organizations for product direction/improvements

· Assist with technical presentations internal and external to our organization

The ideal candidate should have:

· Education: MS, PhD in mechanical, aerospace, marine, or equivalent

· Languages: Fluent in English

· Communication skills: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and via email.

· Experience with CFD mesh generation and solver software in aerospace, automotive, industrial, turbomachinery, or marine applications is required.

· Experience with Cadence CFD tools is a plus.

· Experience in scripting languages like Python and Tcl

· Customer service oriented with strong problem-solving skills

· Strong attention to detail with the ability to organize and prioritize

· Team player with a positive attitude, willingness to offer and execute ideas and solutions to enhance processes within an evolving environment

· Prepared to travel and work at customer sites throughout North America

Work Authorization:

· A current authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

The annual salary range for California is $102,900 to $191,100. You may also be eligible to receive incentive compensation: bonus, equity, and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the salary range is a guideline and compensation may vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
