About the team
Tencent Games Business Development team is focused on strategic partnerships and investment initiatives, building upon our reputation in the gaming industry and our Tencent platform as we expand on our gaming ecosystem globally. We are growing our market focused team and looking for an experienced game industry professional to join the team, and help execute Tencent Games’ long-term success in the region. This role will focus on building long term partnerships and sourcing investment opportunities in the Europe region. You will be exposed to top gaming studios and have the opportunity to learn from experienced industry professionals ranging from game production experts to seasoned investment and strategy professionals.
Job Responsibilities
Conduct strategic market and industry analysis, leveraging a comprehensive understanding of Tencent's projects, while staying updated on industry trends and the competitive landscape to inform business decisions.
Identity and evaluate potential business opportunities and investment prospects in the gaming industry.
Participate in the design of project investment scheme, including negotiation and formulation of relevant agreements.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, such as game developers, publishers, VCs, investors and other partners, to cultivate an investment pipeline and source strategic partnership opportunities.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution of partnerships and initiatives.
Actively participate in key corporate strategic planning processes, working across businesses and functions to frame the corporate strategy and drive alignment and execution on key initiatives.
Develop deep relationships with business unit leadership, and work closely to support the execution of key strategic priorities for the different business units.
Represent Tencent Games at industry events and conferences.
Job Requirements
The candidate should be based in Europe with at least 8 years of proven track record in video gaming, venture capital (VC), early-stage investing or technology investment. Exeprience in banking, private equity (PE), or VC is required.
The ideal candidate is a well-rounded and driven individual capable of building up a network in the gaming industry, confidently engaging with developers, publishers, and investors on building new relationships, and is not afraid of hustling and knocking on new doors.
Able to conduct strategic analysis of market and industry, leveraging a solid understanding of game industry and/or game projects to inform business decisions.
A team player that also can operate an individual contributor, with outstanding written and oral communication skills, analytical skills, and people skills.
Comfortable with handling ambiguity and collaborating across different functional teams and departments.
Intellectually curious with a dedication to go the extra mile.
Conviction in your viewpoints but with the ability to think quickly on your feet and adapt to new data and market conditions.
Comfortable to travel internationally to meet partners and attend conferences when needed, with experience working with international and multicultural teams.
Prior gaming industry experience is preferred but not required – strong passion for games is ideal.
