The Role

The Enterprise Product Research team’s mission is to create a competitive advantage for Netflix by delivering research and insights that translate directly into product and business impact, guiding the development of the world’s largest and most technically advanced content studio that is revolutionizing how content is created and delivered to our members all over the world. This role will partner with creative leaders, studio leaders, cross-functional product teams, and global creative and production talent inside and outside Netflix to opportunity size, de-risk, and upscale ML/AI products that unlock new creative possibilities for storytellers and drive efficiency across the content creation process, ultimately bringing more joy to viewers all over the world. 

Because this job is deep in the world of technical creator technology, we are seeking a researcher who can manage high technical complexity, dive deep into specialized creative workflows, be excited about AI innovation, and have experience working with creatives and balancing strong research principles with deep empathy for the art and craft required to create great content. 

What You'll Be Doing: 

  • Partner with cross-functional teams (including Creators, Business Stakeholders, Product Management, Algo Engineers, Data Scientists, and more) to develop, lead, execute, and socialize a roadmap of high-impact research initiatives (both product/UX and strategic business research) across multiple creative domains. 

  • Ability to respond to changing needs across the business to identify and prioritize impactful opportunities in an environment where balancing rigor with velocity is paramount. 

  • Get deep into the technical workflows of complex creator workflows and ecosystems. 

  • Engage internal and external partners worldwide to uncover pain points and unmet needs and translate them into actionable business recommendations. 

  • Thoughtfully evangelize the role of research with stakeholders who may be new to the function.

  • Cut through competing perspectives and approaches to tell powerful, objective insights and stories that can land across diverse technical and non-technical audiences. 

  • Identify opportunities to establish new points of view and capabilities that evolve our enterprise research function.

The Ideal Background:

  • Demonstrable experience leading both qualitative & quantitative research supporting product development, AI/ML innovation, and business strategy. 

  • Experience building products for creatives, or deep familiarity with content production and creative workflows.

  • Experience working with algo/ML teams. 

  • Experience working with global stakeholders and technical audiences. 

  • Effective verbal and written communication to distill complex multi-method research reports into understandable, compelling, and actionable insights.

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to triangulate data and insights from multiple sources. 

  • Ability to frequently travel to Los Angeles/Los Gatos to meet with stakeholders and openness to international travel as needed. 

  • ​​An advanced degree in psychology, social sciences, or a related field is a plus but not required.

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $130,000 - $470,000.

Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs.  Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
