Job Summary

Job Description

As a Senior Software Engineer at Telstra, you will collaborate with Technical Product Owners to understand business requirements and brainstorm technical solutions. You will be responsible for implementing solutions, developing business functionality in a microservices architecture, creating and updating APIs, and maintaining interface documentation. Furthermore, you will innovate by developing resilient, self-healing, and cloud-native solutions, actively participate in CI/CD, test automation, support, and monitoring, and ensure APIs are secure and conform to Telstra’s engineering standards. You'll also be managing release practices and work with a team that values collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
Must have:
  • Strong knowledge of integration platforms and API design.
  • Experience with REST, SOAP, ETL, and APIs.
  • Proficient in creating and maintaining systems integration documentation.
  • Strong background in Dynamics AX 2012 and Dynamics 365 F&O.
  • Skilled in X++, C#, and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
  • Understanding of end-to-end ecommerce business functions.
Good to have:
  • Experience with Azure AD/Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Experience with CI/CD Tools like Bamboo, Jenkins.
  • Knowledge of detecting and resolving security vulnerabilities.
  • Exposure to API Managers like APIGEE and OKAPI SaaS.
  • Familiarity with container management systems.
  • Understanding of AWS API Gateway and API security knowledge.

What you'll do

  • Collaborate: Work closely with Technical Product Owners to understand business requirements and brainstorm technical solutions.
  • Implement: Partner with solution engineers to bring ideas to life.
  • Develop: Design, develop, and deploy business functionality in a microservices architecture.
  • Create APIs: Build new APIs and update existing ones as needed.
  • Document: Maintain interface documentation such as Swagger specs and solution briefs.
  • Innovate: Develop resilient, self-healing, and cloud-native solutions.
  • DevOps: Participate actively in CI/CD, test automation, support, and monitoring.
  • Secure: Ensure APIs are secure and conform to Telstra’s engineering standards.
  • Release: Manage and understand release practices.

About you

  • You're based in Australia, with AU citizenship or permanent residency (essential to be considered for this role)
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of integration platforms, API design/management, and secure managed file transfers.
  • Integration Skills: Experience with REST, SOAP, ETL, and APIs.
  • Documentation: Proficient in creating and maintaining systems integration documentation.
  • Microsoft Dynamics: Strong background in Dynamics AX 2012 and Dynamics 365 F&O, including customisation and integration.
  • Development: Skilled in X++, C#, and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
  • Ecommerce: Understanding of end-to-end ecommerce business functions and POS systems.
  • Best Practices: Implement and improve ongoing maintenance processes.

Bonus Points For:

  • Azure AD/Microsoft Entra ID
  • CI/CD Tools: Experience with Bamboo, Jenkins, Shell scripting, Python.
  • Security: Knowledge of detecting and resolving security vulnerabilities.
  • API Management: Exposure to API Managers like APIGEE and OKAPI SaaS.
