Job Description

The Business Technology Advisor (BTA) plays a crucial role in providing project and technical support to the account management team. The BTA will be involved in identifying new opportunities and developing suitable solutions. This will include scheduled interactions with Account Managers, customer presentations, engagement with strategic partners and internal stakeholders, as well as assisting with building solution commercials and proposals. The role requires a strong understanding of technology and customer service skills to create a positive customer experience and support sales goals.
Must have:
  • Experience in Telstra store or TBTC.
  • Proven sales experience in SAAS and Technology.
  • High levels of contract negotiation skills.
  • Exceptional internal and external stakeholder management skills.

About the team

Telstra Business - Telstra Business Technology Centres provides IT and business support to Telstra's business customers.

What is the focus of the role?

In a typical day you will have scheduled sessions with AMs to discuss customer opportunities and potential solutions, as well as partners and internal TBTC stakeholders to provide advice and consultation on new business opportunities and upcoming changes to technology and release strategies.

About the role

Our Business Technology Advisors (BTA) plays an important role in providing project and technical support to our account management team, as well as developing and maintain relationships within the TBTC channel and strategic technology partners.

The primary activity for a BTA is to be consistently engaged with the portfolio through regular collaboration with the AM team to assist with identifying new opportunities and developing suitable solutions and your daily plan would be built around these types of engagements. This activity would include scheduled interactions with AM’s, customer presentations (VC and face to face), consistent engagement with TBTC strategic partners and internal stakeholders, as well as dedicated time to assist with building solution commercials and proposals.

In a typical day you will have scheduled sessions with AMs to discuss customer opportunities and potential solutions, as well as partners and internal TBTC stakeholders to provide advice and consultation on new business opportunities and upcoming changes to technology and release strategies.

As a Business Technology Advisor (BTA) at TBTC you will report into the Sales Lead and Centre Lead and provide support to the broader account management team. Utilizing your passion for technology and excellent customer service skills, you create the ultimate experience and turn our customers into loyal Telstra fans who support our TBTC.

You provide advanced solutions and best practice guidance, make decisions based on your commercial acumen and understanding of the market, coordinate with other departments to actively listen to customer’s concerns and support sales and marketing teams to turn our business goals into a reality.

You will always put the customer first and support our pillars of Customer Obsession, Brilliant People and Partnerships, Responsible Growth and Returns and Execution Excellence.

This role is a full-time on-site role based in Perth.


About you

  • Previous experience working in a Telstra store or TBTC
  • Proven sales experience working in fast paced SAAS and Technology industry
  • High levels of contracts negotiation and pricing skills
  • Highly analytical with advanced reporting skills
  • Key interest in ICT and the future technology landscape
  • Multitasker who can adapt to a variety of scenarios and situations
  • Exceptional internal and external stakeholder management skills
  • High levels of written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and time management skills
  • Embrace, adopt and utilize Telstra tools and technology to enable better business processes
  • Demonstrated commitment to relationship building and working in partnership with key stakeholders
  • Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal, engagement and presentation skills
  • Understand the impact of your role and will think out of the box to deliver results
  • Show initiative, enthusiasm and pride in work and display resilience in a change environment
