Job Description

Cold Symmetry seeks a self-driven Technical Artist with 3+ years of game development experience (Unreal Engine). Responsibilities include liaising between programming and design teams, developing technical tools and shaders, supporting artists and engineers in the 3D pipeline, optimizing asset performance, resolving technical issues, and maintaining documentation. The role involves optimizing environments, establishing physics barriers, improving frame rate and memory performance, resolving material and collision errors, and monitoring game performance. The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills and is comfortable working independently within a fully remote team.
Must have:
  • 3+ years experience as Technical Artist

We are looking for a self-driven Technical Artist with solid artistic and technical skills to create beautiful and detailed work that pushes the possibilities of gameplay and storytelling on next-generation consoles.

You’ll Own

  • Liaising between heads of programming and design teams
  • Researching and developing technical tools for a project
  • Developing complex shaders and materials
  • Supporting artists and engineers in the 3D art pipeline
  • Assisting in asset performance and validation
  • Solving complex technical issues during development
  • Working within the limits of the game engine, curating file sizes, polygon counts and loading speeds
  • Optimizing environments and establishing physics barriers
  • Developing performance of frame rate and memory
  • Resolving material errors and collision issues
  • Monitoring the performance of the game
  • Maintaining technical documentation

Your XP and Skills

  • 3+ years experience in game development as a Technical Artist.
  • Experienced in Unreal Engine.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to help and mentor other team members.
  • Participate in critiques and be open to giving and receiving feedback.
  • Great organizational skills and a deadline-oriented - ability to establish scope, plan, and deliver milestones while adjusting when changes happen.
  • Self motivated and able work independently as part of a fully distributed and, at times, a-sync team to meet deadlines and milestone requirements
