Summary

The Senior Technical Writer, Artificial Intelligence (AI) at Google will collaborate with AI product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to create accurate and clear technical documentation. Responsibilities include writing documentation for security analysts (new features, how-to guides, release notes, reference documents), rewriting/reorganizing existing documentation, editing/proofreading documents, staying updated on AI advancements, and mentoring other writers. The role requires strong technical writing skills, experience documenting APIs and code (Python/JavaScript), and familiarity with cloud platforms and AI tools like Vertex AI. The ideal candidate will effectively communicate complex information concisely and accurately, while adhering to Google's style guidelines.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience creating content for technical audiences (e.g., developer documentation, Computer Science course material, or IT administration playbooks).
  • Experience writing in HTML or Markdown.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience documenting, developing, or using Application programming interfaces (API) in REST, Python, or other languages.
  • Experience reading, writing and documenting source code written in Python or JavaScript.
  • Experience working in Cloud Console and cloud Command-line Interface (CLI).
  • Experience with Vertex Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI Studio.
  • Experience writing and engineering prompts with an understanding of ReAct, CoT, ToT and search disambiguation.

They are a key link between developers, marketing associates, developer advocates, as well as all the external users and developers, tying together many vital but disparate parts of the Google ecosystem.

You develop complex, in-depth communications for internal and external audiences and manage projects that involve coordinating multiple junior writers.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $125,000-$185,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Artificial Intelligence (AI) product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather information and ensure accuracy of documentation and effectively communicate project updates, challenges, and successes to stakeholders.
  • Write technical documentation for security analysts including new features, how-to guides, Release Notes and reference documents.
  • Rewrite and reorganize existing documentation to improve the customer experience.
  • Edit, clarify, and proofread documents written by others on the team to match the Google style guidelines. Stay informed about the latest developments in AI and adapt content strategy accordingly.
  • Mentor other writers on the team.
