Summary

This Senior Service Design & Transition Manager role is with a major UK rail network company focused on developing and supporting enterprise-level information systems. The position is key to initiating a data integration and master data management project transformation. Responsibilities include engaging with clients pre-sales and throughout project delivery, gathering and documenting requirements, building strong stakeholder relationships (internal and external, including suppliers), collaborating on service problem resolution, managing product sets, applications, and IT infrastructure, considering risks and operational support models, and overseeing service design and transition. The role requires proficiency in managing diverse services and tools, strong ITIL expertise (v3 or v4), and proven experience in service management.

Project description

One of the biggest UK rail network companies operating with rail infrastructure and asset management has a need to develop and support enterprise-level information systems.

Training function within client oganization has a requirement to deliver the Data Integration and Master Data Management project within their Year 1 Business Plan.

The roles is key for the programme to start it's transformation journey and will be aligned to IT Delivery Lifecycle and work with a variety of stakeholders and suppliers across the programme.

Responsibilities

Engage with clients during the pre-sales stage and throughout project delivery.

Gather and document client requirements, understanding their needs and business context.

Build strong relationships for essential and effective communication & collaboration

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address emerging service problems.

Excellent stakeholder management skills: Interacting with internal and external stakeholders, including project teams, business units, and third-party supplier

Deal with services comprising different tools, suppliers, processes, and teams.

Proficiency in managing assigned product sets, applications, and IT infrastructure.

Familiarity with high availability and IT communications.

Knowledge of operating systems and applications management processes.

Consider risks, operational support models, and acceptance criteria.

Oversee and manage the Service Design & Transition Manager

Practical experience in designing and transitioning services.

Experience with ITIL and or accreditation

Skills

Must have

Proven experience in Service Management including Service Design & Service Transition (this role is aligned to the ITIL v4 framework ITIL Specialist

Create, Deliver & Support or ITIL v3 qualified to Service Design & Transition Lifecycle/Capabilities (Intermediate Level) or equivalent experience

Excellent stakeholder management skills and experience

Excellent communicator across all levels

Good understanding & experience in using service management tools

Nice to have

Knowledge of/experience in the UK rail industry or equivalent.

Formal Project and Programme Management qualifications such as APM, PRINCE2 and MSP or equivalent lifecycle experience
