Role Overview:

As an SFX/Music Composer, you will be responsible for composing original music and designing sound effects that enhance the gameplay experience and atmosphere of our video games. You will work closely with the game designers, and developers to create compelling audio assets that elevate our projects to the next level.

What You Can Expect to Work On

  • Compose and produce original music scores that align with the artistic vision and mood of our games.
  • Design and implement dynamic sound effects that enhance gameplay, immersion, and player engagement.
  • Collaborate with game designers, directors, and other team members to understand and interpret the audio needs of the game.
  • Create adaptive audio systems that respond to in-game events and player actions, enhancing the overall gaming experience.
  • Manage and oversee the audio integration process, ensuring that all audio assets are seamlessly incorporated into the game.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in audio design and music composition.
  • Provide feedback and creative input during playtesting and production phases to refine and enhance the audio experience.
  • Collaborate with external outsourcers and provide feedback when necessary.
  • Maintain organised documentation of audio assets, including sound effects libraries and music compositions.

Requirements

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Proven experience as a composer and sound designer in the video game industry, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard audio production tools and software (e.g., Pro Tools, Ableton Live, FMOD, Wwise).
  • Strong understanding of music theory, composition, and orchestration, with the ability to create diverse musical styles and genres.
  • Strong understanding of Unreal Engine and Metasounds.
  • Experience designing and implementing interactive sound effects and adaptive audio systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • A passion for video games and a deep understanding of how audio contributes to the gaming experience.

About The Company

In Southeast Asia (SEA), unicorn exits and tech company listings have proven to offer founders and investors unrealistic expectations, given the maturity of the market. This dilemma has left founders in a challenging position as they have to optimise for the outsized outcomes investors that follow Western narratives desire, while facing the reality of the consumer landscape.

At LiquidX, we aim to shift this narrative and demonstrate that it is possible to achieve large-scale outcomes by using a distinct approach to company building. Through a holding company (holdco) structure, we will build multiple cash flow-positive businesses that can, but do not necessarily have to, rely on venture scale narratives.

The usual arguments against this approach are as follows: 

 1) The focus of founders will be divided, hence ineffective.

 2) We won’t be able to get top-tier talent to build companies this way.

 3) That Venture scale outcomes are not possible.

We believe all 3 arguments above are false narratives, and aim to prove that this new (to tech) model of company building is the optimal approach for emerging markets. Along this journey, we aspire to ensure that everyone involved enjoys the process.
