Job Description
As a Software Engineer on the Microsoft Capacity Infrastructure Service Platform team, you'll work on a large-scale distributed system, contributing to automation, scaling existing processes, and adding new capabilities. You'll collaborate with other engineering teams, gain deep Azure expertise, and advance your career. Responsibilities include determining user requirements, developing design documents, implementing code, breaking down work items, and acting as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) for system monitoring and problem resolution. You'll also review current developments and proactively seek new knowledge to improve product performance and consistency.
Must have:
- Bachelor's Degree in CS or related field
- Experience coding (C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python)
- Meet Microsoft security screening requirements
- Collaborate with engineering teams
- Develop and implement code
- System monitoring and problem resolution

Microsoft Azure is a rapidly growing and evolving cloud platform. The Microsoft Capacity Infrastructure Service Platform is used to automate business processes, datacenter operations, and hardware provisioning to enable further growth consistently, efficiently, and securely.
As a Software Engineer on the Microsoft Capacity Infrastructure Service Platform team, you'll be working on a large-scale distributed system and contribute features to automate processes, scale existing processes, and add new capabilities to support the needs of partner teams. Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python,
- OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python,
- OR equivalent experience.
Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $81,900 - $160,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $105,600 - $174,600 per year.

Responsibilities
- Works with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a feature.
- Supports identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product feature with oversight.
- With guidance, learns to create and implement code for a product, service, or feature reusing code as applicable.
- Assists and learns about breaking down work items into tasks and provides estimation.
- Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) in monitoring system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions for simple problems, and recommends actions to restore system/product/service by following the playbook.
- Reviews current developments and proactively seeks new knowledge that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
