As a Software Engineer III, Mobile (Android), Geo at Google, you'll contribute to the development and improvement of Google's mapping products. Responsibilities include writing and reviewing code, ensuring adherence to best practices, contributing to documentation, debugging and resolving system issues, participating in design reviews, and enhancing software solutions. You'll work with Android application development, large-scale systems, and data analysis. The Geo team focuses on building accurate and comprehensive maps for billions of users, creating intuitive user experiences and solving complex computer science challenges. You will manage project priorities, deadlines and deliverables.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 2 years software development experience
  • 2 years data structures/algorithms experience
  • Android app development experience
  • Code review and debugging skills
Good to have:
  • Master's/PhD in CS
  • Experience with large-scale systems
  • Experience with accessibility technologies
  • Performance analysis and visualization

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an academic or industry setting.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 2 years of experience with Android application development.
  • 2 years of experience with performance, large scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.

As they plot a course for the future of mapping, they are solving complex computer science problems, designing beautiful and intuitive product experiences, and improving our understanding of the real world.

Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
