This Software Engineer III role focuses on iOS mobile application development within Google's Core team. Responsibilities include writing and reviewing code, contributing to documentation, debugging and resolving system issues, participating in design reviews, and managing project priorities. The Core team builds the foundational technical elements for Google's flagship products, impacting critical technical decisions across the company. The ideal candidate possesses strong iOS development experience, expertise in data structures and algorithms, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. This position requires collaboration with peers and stakeholders to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 2 years iOS app development experience
  • 2 years experience with data structures/algorithms
  • Code writing, review, and debugging
  • Contribute to documentation
Good to have:
  • Master's or PhD in Computer Science
  • Experience with accessible technologies

Job Details

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an academic or industry setting.
  • 2 years of experience with iOS application development.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.

As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.

Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
