Job Description

Google is seeking a Software Engineer III to work on Google Photos and Google One. This role involves independently working in a critical and sensitive environment, planning and executing infrastructure changes to improve counter-abuse practices. Responsibilities include building new APIs, writing business logic, modifying databases, and collaborating with engineers across various global locations. The engineer will ensure Google Photos and Google One systems protect users and the business from illegal content, social engineering, fraud, and costly abuse. The ideal candidate will have experience with large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, and data structures/algorithms.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
2+ years software development experience
2+ years experience with data structures/algorithms
Build new APIs and business logic
Database modifications
Collaboration with global teams

Good to have:

Master's or PhD in CS
Experience with large-scale infrastructure
Experience developing accessible technologies
Experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an academic or industry setting.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
2 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or networks.
Experience developing accessible technologies.
Experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.

Responsibilities

Work independently in a technical and growing organization that is navigating a space that is critical, and sensitive.
Plan and execute infrastructure changes that help Google Photos continue to lead the way in counter-abuse practices (e.g., building new APIs, writing new business logic, and changing our databases.).
Foster a collaborative partnership with fellow engineers and leaders in Mountain View, Los Angeles, Sydney, and Bengaluru as well as with other teams across Google Photos and Google One to build trusted and trustworthy platforms.
Ensure that Google Photos develops systems that allow the product to protect users and the business from illegal content, social engineering, and costly abuse.
Ensure that Google One develops systems that allow the product to protect the business from fraud and costly abuse.
