Microsoft's AI and STCA teams in Suzhou and Beijing are seeking Software Engineering Interns for Summer 2025 (June-September). Interns will collaborate on real-world projects, contributing to products like Copilot, Bing, and Microsoft 365. Responsibilities include applying engineering principles to solve complex problems, working with stakeholders to define user requirements, learning and applying new technologies, and improving product performance. The internship provides valuable experience in designing, developing, and testing next-generation software, working alongside experienced engineers and product managers. Interns will contribute to the development and operational management of a portfolio of AI products and services.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's or Master's in CS/Engineering
  • 1+ year OOP programming experience

About the team:

 

MAI and STCA are hiring Software Engineer Interns in Suzhou and Beijing. 

 

The Microsoft AI team is dedicated to creating world-class internet products, experiences, and services. Our department is responsible for the technological development and operational management of an array of products, including Copilot, Edge browser, Bing search, Microsoft Ads, Microsoft Maps, Microsoft Weather, and Content Consulting. We are committed to continuously investing in the development of a new portfolio of artificial intelligence products.

 

Microsoft Software Technology Center Asia (STCA), founded in 2005, has teams in Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, Taipei, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Vancouver, with world-class regional R&D centers in Beijing and Suzhou. As an indispensable core force in Microsoft’s global product development and operations, STCA contributes to core products and innovations such as Microsoft 365 Copilot, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Windows, Forms, Outlook. Its work spans AI, big data, cloud computing, platforms and systems, security, user interaction design, mobile technologies, AI development tools, and AI Ops, making a significant impact on Microsoft’s global innovation efforts.

 

Internship Period: Summer of 2025 (Jun.~Sep.)

 

Target candidates: University students from related major

 

Location: Beijing/Suzhou, China

 

As a Software Engineering Intern, you will work with teammates to solve problems and build innovative software solutions. You will apply your passion for customers and product quality as you provide technical guidance to Technical Program Managers and Product Managers. You will learn and adopt relevant new technologies, tools, methods, and processes to leverage in your solutions. Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Must have at least 1 semester/term remaining following the completion of the internship.
  • One year of programming experience in an object-oriented language.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms.

 

Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering principles to solve complex problems through sound and creative engineering. 
  • Work with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a feature.
  • Quickly learns new engineering methods and incorporates them into work processes. 
  • Seek feedback and apply internal or industry best practices to improve technical solutions. 
  • Demonstrate skill in time management and completing software projects in a cooperative team environment.
  • Review current developments and proactively seek new knowledge that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
