Job Title: Software Engineering Manager I
Location: NCR Voyix Hydrabad
Department: Retail Engineering POS-EX
Reports To: Retail Applications Senior Manager
Job Summary: We are looking for a results-driven Software Engineering Manager to lead a high performing engineering team focused on delivering high-quality software through automation, best practices, and continuous improvement. This role is responsible for driving the effectiveness of the team’s automation testing strategy, ensuring adherence to software engineering standards, and fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and customer-centricity.
Key Responsibilities:
• Drive the effectiveness of the team’s automation testing strategy and ensure alignment with industry best practices.
• Own the development and execution of engineering best practices across a product, subsystem, or team.
• Ensure the team is delivering according to roadmap and schedule commitments. Technical Excellence
• Oversee the definition and implementation of automated test scripts to validate code quality.
• Ensure the team applies robust test automation frameworks and continuous delivery tools.
• Monitor code reviews and lead root cause analysis to eliminate recurring issues. Quality & Delivery
• Define and enforce the operational definition of quality for the product.
• Ensure the team delivers products that meet or exceed quality targets.
• Drive accountability for test execution and quality assurance throughout the software development lifecycle. Team Development & Coaching
• Identify skill gaps and provide coaching, training, and mentorship to team members.
• Promote a culture of ownership, responsibility, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure the team is trained in and applies outside-in thinking and other modern design strategies. Collaboration & Communication
• Collaborate with product management and customers to ensure the product meets user needs and adds value.
• Ensure effective decomposition of business requirements into actionable user stories.
• Ensure product owners and team members understand the domain and business context.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 9+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
• Strong experience with test automation frameworks and CI/CD tools.
• Proven track record of delivering high-quality software products on time.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Deep understanding of Agile methodologies and software development best practices. Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with application containerization and workload deployments
• Familiarity with performance, security, and usability testing.
• Experience working in a product-led or customer-centric organization.
• Certifications in Agile, Scrum, or Quality Engineering (e.g., CSM, ISTQB).
