How We Operate
[P1] works by selecting positive-impact nonprofit and open source game projects worthy of community support and then collaborates with volunteers to organize the volunteer workforce needed to complete such games.
Role Description
This is a remote volunteer role for a Game Design Director at [P1] Games. You will be responsible for conceptualizing and designing a brand new game with a team of volunteers.
Responsibilities
While you can set your own hours as a volunteer, we recommend dedicating around 20 hours per week to effectively lead projects as the Game Design Director.
- Developing game concepts, rules, and mechanics to create engaging gameplay.
- Collaborating with artists, programmers, and other team members to ensure a cohesive vision and execution of game ideas.
- Crafting narratives, level designs, and puzzles that enhance the player's experience.
- Working with your team's programmers to prototype gameplay ideas and features to test their viability.
- Gathering and implementing feedback from playtests to refine game designs.
This role is non-technical, however, technical skills are a bonus. Be aware that you should come to the Introduction Chat explicitly stating that you're there for the director role, as we have many volunteers and we have not defined our director pipeline yet.
Open Source
All games made by [P1] are open source and not for profit projects intended to have a positive impact through play.
Support and Team Dynamics
If you're eager to lead a team but feel you might lack some necessary experience, this role is still for you. Our team structure is designed to complement your strengths and address areas where you might need support.
