Job Description

This internship at Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg focuses on supporting the Building and Infrastructure team in maintaining and optimizing water utility systems (wastewater, rainwater, domestic water, greywater). Responsibilities include assisting with system inspections, maintenance planning, collaborating with cross-functional teams (EHS, Waste Management, Permitting) to ensure compliance, gathering data for performance reports, and participating in projects to improve system efficiency and sustainability. The intern will learn to interpret technical drawings like P&IDs and contribute to a proactive maintenance and continuous improvement culture. The role requires strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills along with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.

Must have:

Currently enrolled in relevant engineering degree program
Interest in water systems management/environmental compliance
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
Willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment

Good to have:

Basic understanding of water and utility systems
Proficiency in English and German

The internship assignment

The Building and Infrastructure team within the Technical Services Department at Gigafactory Berlin is dedicated to maintaining and optimizing essential utility systems, including wastewater, rainwater, and domestic water. This collaborative team works with various departments, such as EHS and Waste Management, to ensure compliance, efficiency, and high performance across critical systems. Focused on proactive maintenance and continuous improvement, the team fosters a culture of innovation and operational excellence. As an intern, you will support these efforts by assisting with system inspections, maintenance planning, and collaborative projects that enhance efficiency and sustainability.

What You’ll Do

Assist in monitoring and maintaining wastewater, rainwater, domestic water, and greywater systems.
Support the development and execution of maintenance plans and operational procedures for water systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS), Waste Management, and the Permitting team, to ensure compliance with local regulations.
Help gather data and prepare reports on system performance, maintenance activities, and compliance status.
Participate in projects aimed at improving system efficiency, reliability, and environmental performance.
Learn to read and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and other technical drawings related to water systems.

What You’ll Bring

Currently enrolled in a degree program in civil engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
Interest in water systems management, utilities, or environmental compliance.
Basic understanding of water and utility systems (wastewater, rainwater, etc.) is a plus.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency English and German nice to have.
