As a Consultant, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing TransUnion's global Cloud Cost Optimization/FinOps practices. This includes developing and implementing cloud cost optimization strategies, leading budget planning, forecasting, tracking, and financial analysis related to cloud services. You will collaborate with engineering, finance teams, and cloud architects to identify cost-saving opportunities, promote cost accountability, and communicate spending insights to stakeholders. Additionally, you will monitor cloud usage and spending data, generate reports, and stay updated on the latest optimization strategies and technologies.
Must have:
  • 5+ years of experience in Cloud Infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Experience using FinOps and native tools for optimization
  • Understanding of DevOps/SRE practices
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

What We'll Bring:

Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience in Cloud Infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Experience using FinOps and native tools AWS/GCP Cost explorer and other analytics tools to advise on optimization opportunities
• Understanding of DevOps/SRE practices such as CI/CD, IaC, and expertise with Linux and Windows stacks
• Experience and good understanding of cost management tactics such as enterprise wide discount programs and commitment plans, Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, Committed Use Discounts, chargeback reporting, show back, and spend control

Role & Responsibilities 


Reporting to the Sr Manager, Strategy & Planning will support the design, development, implementation and technical support of TransUnion's global Cloud Cost Optimization/FinOps practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Optimization Strategies:
    • Develop and implement strategies to optimize cloud costs.
    • Recommend changes to cloud service usage, pricing models, and purchasing options. 
    • Collaborate with engineering and finance teams to identify cost-saving opportunities. 
  • Budgeting and Financial Planning:
    • Lead budget planning, forecasting, tracking, and financial analysis related to cloud services. 
    • Develop and report on cloud cost performance metrics and dashboards. 
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work with cross-functional teams (engineering, finance, cloud architects) to achieve cost optimization goals.
    • Promote a culture of cost accountability and awareness for proper cloud financial management. 
    • Communicate cloud spending insights and optimization opportunities to stakeholders. ​​
  • Technical Skills:
    • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their cost management tools. 
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
    • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Other Tasks:
  • Document processes and support training for internal teams. 
  • Stay updated on the latest cost optimization strategies and technologies.
  • Cloud Cost Monitoring and Analysis:
    • Monitor cloud usage and spending data to identify trends and anomalies. 
    • Analyze cloud usage patterns and trends to pinpoint areas for optimization. 
    • Generate regular financial and usage reports for stakeholders.

This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.
