DNEG Animation is seeking a skilled Character TD (Rigger) to create animation rigs for characters, creatures, props, and vehicles. The ideal candidate will have proven experience with significant creature/character projects, a thorough knowledge of Maya, and strong visual and artistic skills. Experience with pipeline issues and a typical character/creature-heavy post-production environment is also preferred.

Nous visons à rivaliser avec les meilleurs du secteur et nous dépendons de nos artistes pour créer des rigs d'animation pour les personnages, les créatures, les accessoires et les véhicules. De temps à autre, il peut s'avérer nécessaire de mettre en œuvre des outils propriétaires pour faciliter la création de rigs d'animation. Il s'agit d'un travail d'équipe, vous travaillerez donc en étroite collaboration avec nos Rigging Supervisors et nos Animation Leads/Superviseurs pour développer les solutions de rigging les plus adaptées.
Exigences
  • Avoir des années d'expérience prouvées dans des projets importants de créatures/personnages.
  • Connaissance approfondie du domaine de spécialisation du personnage (corps, visage, rigs mécaniques).
  • Connaissance approfondie de Maya
  • Être à l'aise avec les aspects plus techniques du travail sur les personnages/créatures, le cas échéant, et posséder de solides compétences visuelles et artistiques.
  • Familiarité avec les questions de pipeline et avec un environnement de post-production typique à forte intensité de personnages/créatures.
  • Compréhension approfondie de l'anatomie humaine et animale
  • Compréhension des lois fondamentales de la physique
  • Maîtrise des mathématiques (algèbre linéaire)
  • Connaissance fondamentale de l'animation
 
Atouts
Des compétences en programmation ou en écriture de scripts (par exemple, MEL, Python, C++) seraient utiles, mais pas indispensables.

Key Purpose of the Job
DNEG Feature Animation division has been slowly building over the past couple of years, and we are delighted to launch the new facility officially! Together, we will bring the vision of major Hollywood studios and independent productions to life. 

We aim to compete with the best in the business and will depend on our Character TDs to create animation rigs for characters, creatures, props, and vehicles. From time to time, it may be necessary to implement proprietary tools to aid in creating animation rigs. This is a team effort, so you'll work closely with our Rigging Supervisors and Animation Leads/Supervisors to develop the most suitable rigging solutions.


Must Have  
  • Needs to have proven years of experience with significant creature/character projects
  • Thorough knowledge of their area of character specialization (i.e., body, face, mechanical rigs)
  • Full working knowledge of Maya
  • Needs to be comfortable with the more technical aspects of character/creature work where appropriate and have strong visual and artistic skills
  • Familiarity with pipeline issues and a typical character/creature-heavy post-production environment
  • Extensive understanding of human and animal anatomy
  • Understanding of the fundamental laws of physics
  • Proficiency in mathematics (linear algebra)
  • Fundamental animation knowledge

Nice to Have
  • Programming or scripting skills (i.e., MEL, Python, C++) would be beneficial but not essential

Please note that this is a unionized position and will be covered by a collective agreement between DNEG and IATSE, in the coming months. As a unionized employee, you will be required to join the union and will benefit from the conditions set out in the collective agreement. Union dues will be required once the collective agreement is in place.
