The Director, Engineering is responsible for the engineering teams in the Shared Product Services pillar of our business. Working collaboratively with Product, Customer Success, Security, and other technology teams, this role will drive the product delivery, and ensure consistent and stable services. They will ensure that the teams build and operate resilient, secure, and highly available services and that the teams deliver delightful products aligned with Wave’s business goals.

The successful candidate will oversee the Shared Product Services Engineering teams (three teams including Optimization (Growth), Identity and Entitlements) and be responsible for the technology strategy and delivery of these teams.

    • Team Leadership and Development: Mentor and grow a team of engineers and managers, fostering a collaborative, empathetic, and high-performing work environment. Focus on building a healthy team culture that aligns with the needs of users.
    • Engineering Excellence: Define and continuously improve core metrics for your teams. Lead efforts to optimize engineering solutions for scalability, performance, and reliability. Collaborate with multiple engineering teams, ensuring consistency in architectural principles and promoting best practices.
    • Ownership of Engineering Delivery: Own the engineering roadmap for the group (growth engineering, customer identity, entitlements) consistent with business goals. Ensure that the teams are aligned, have what they need to do their jobs effectively, and that projects are on track.
    • Vision and Strategy: Develop and drive the engineering strategic vision for the group, ensuring the team is well-positioned to deliver future projects and meet future challenges and opportunities based on the company’s overall objectives and resources. 
    • Cross Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with product management, engineering leaders, customer success and other cross functional leaders to prioritize feature development, engineering investments and security. Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure initiatives are aligned with broader business goals.
    • Innovation: Stay current on engineering best practices and trends. Lead the team in continuously refining strategies, processes, and tools to improve engineering efficiency and innovation.

You Thrive Here By Possessing the Following:

    • 2+ years of experience managing multiple engineering teams as a manager of managers.
    • 10+ years of experience in software development with distributed production systems at scale.
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
    • Ability to facilitate technical decision-making, even outside your domain of expertise.
    • Deep understanding and experience with modern software engineering practices such as Agile.
    • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
    • Ideal candidate has experience working with SaaS and/or FinTech organizations.
