As the General Manager for Bulgaria, you will oversee all aspects of the business, focusing on YouGov Shopper solutions. This role involves developing and executing a growth strategy, driving sales and revenue, and managing key client relationships within the Bulgarian market. You will also be responsible for operational management, including commercial, financial, and administrative activities, while ensuring legal compliance. The position requires building and leading a high-performing team, collaborating with the global YouGov team, and representing the company externally. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of senior leadership experience in market research or data analytics, a proven track record in revenue growth, and strong knowledge of the local FMCG market.
Must have:
  • Minimum 5 years senior leadership experience in panel research, quantitative market research, or consumer data analytics.
  • Proven track record of driving revenue growth and exceeding targets.
  • Strong understanding of local FMCG marketing and market research landscape.
  • Ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
  • Experience managing a P&L.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Deep understanding of data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Bulgarian and English language proficiency.

Job Details

As General Manager of our Bulgaria structure, the postholder will oversee all facets of the business, which is centred on our established YouGov Shopper (previously Consumer Panel) solutions. Our YouGov Shopper solution offers a combination of diverse data from one single source so that FMCG clients can complete the shopper picture. We combine purchase behaviour that shows patterns, trends, and predictions about what is bought together with survey insights to reveal what shoppers think and feel.  

Reporting to our Regional Director CEE based in Warsaw, the General Manager, Bulgaria will undertake the duties for the local company as well as perform operational management including commercial, financial and administrational business activity whilst ensuring compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements. 

Here’s a breakdown of the main responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a growth strategy: i.e. devise and implement a clear and actionable strategy to achieve ambitious revenue and market share goals within the YouGov Shopper solutions in the Bulgarian market. 
  • Drive sales and revenue growth: being accountable for surpassing sales targets and ensuring the financial success of the Bulgarian business unit
  • Proactively source and drive new business through strategic lead identification and development of business potential.
  • Manage key client relationships: establishing and maintaining strong relationships with key clients across various industries to drive business growth and ensure client satisfaction. 
  • Stay ahead of the competition: proactively identifying and capitalizing on new market opportunities, staying abreast of industry trends to maintain a competitive edge. 
  • Build and lead a high-performing team: performing labor duties personally and/or delegating to team or third parties, unless otherwise provided by the Charter and/or applicable laws; recruiting, developing, and inspiring a talented team of professionals who are dedicated to delivering exceptional results in research and data analytics. 
  • Collaborate with the global team: working closely with colleagues in other YouGov offices worldwide to share best practices and drive global growth. 
  • Represent YouGov external: being the ambassador of YouGov in Bulgaria, effectively communicating our brand and value proposition to clients, to market, and to media. 

These are the essentials skills and experience needed:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior leadership role in panel research, quantitative market research or consumer data analytics. 
  • A proven track record of success in driving revenue growth and exceeding targets. 
  • Strong understanding of the local FMCG marketing and market research landscape, as well as the competitive environment. 
  • Ability to build and lead high-performing and cross-function teams.
  • Experience in managing a P&L. 
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Deep understanding of data-driven decision-making. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Bulgarian and English language skills.

We offer flexible working hours and hybrid working model combining working from home with fixed office collaboration days on a weekly basis plus:
