Job Description

Tesla's Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg seeks a Manufacturing Engineer for High Pressure Die Casting. Responsibilities include leading the design, installation, and commissioning of production lines (tandem and transfer lines), supporting equipment design RFQs, managing project budgets, overseeing supplier relationships to ensure quality and delivery, approving supplier designs, and adhering to equipment building standards. The role also involves developing standard documentation, creating detailed program plans, scheduling equipment trials, providing leadership to the Launch Support Team, maintaining detailed documentation, guiding Engineering Techs and Interns, identifying high-priority spare parts, updating the Equipment Tracking System, and providing technical expertise across departments. Experience with aluminum structural high-pressure die casting product startups is crucial.

Must have:

Lead design, installation, commissioning of production lines
Manage project budgets and supplier relationships
Ensure equipment quality & delivery, approve supplier designs
3+ years Casting/Foundry experience
Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical designs
Fluent in German and English

Good to have:

Kuka, Fanuc, or ABB Robotic hardware skills
Project management experience
ISO and local safety standards knowledge

What You’ll Do

Responsible for leading design, installation and commissioning activities for lines (both tandem and transfer lines).
Supports equipment design RFQ’s.
Requests the necessary project capital and is accountable for the budget.
Provides direction and receives feedback from suppliers ensuring equipment quality & delivery commitments are met.
Approves supplier designs.
Ensures that suppliers adhere to equipment building standards.
Participates and perhaps leads the equipment standard documentation development.
Prepares a detailed program plan that meets timing goals and visits suppliers on a regular basis to ensure compliance to timing dates.
Schedules and facilitates equipment trials at suppliers and at TMF.
Provides direction and leadership to Launch Support Team.
Provides a detailed documentation record of “as built” conditions.
Provides direction to Engineering Techs and Engineering Interns as necessary.
Provides a detailed list of high priority spare parts.
Update Equipment Tracking System.
Provide technical expertise to various departments from time to time.

What You’ll Bring

Degree in electrical, mechatronics, or mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience.
3+ years of Casting/Foundry manufacturing experience.
Experience with new equipment installations.
Experience with new aluminum structural high pressure die casting product startups.
Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical designs.
Good project management skillsets to manage press vendors.
Equipment safety buyoff.
Advanced knowledge of requirements by ISO and local safety Standards.
Kuka, Fanuc or/and ABB Robotic hardware skills desired, any programming experiences are plus.
Proven project management experience.
Fluent in the German and English languages.
Flexibility in working weekends and night shift as required.
Innovative, business-minded, capable of working well within a team and organized and able to work under pressure to meet tight deadline.
