Tesla's Direct Procurement team seeks a Senior Direct Materials Buyer to manage the purchasing process for vehicle interior, seating, safety restraints, and plastic products. Responsibilities include complete sourcing, contract negotiation, supplier evaluation, cost savings initiatives, and collaboration with cross-functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, etc.). The ideal candidate possesses 5+ years of procurement experience in global industrial environments, preferably automotive, with expertise in relevant product groups. This role involves managing commodity accounts, ensuring supply chain continuity, and working closely with global teams to achieve strategic goals.

The Tesla Direct Procurement team is looking to hire a skilled Senior Supply Chain Manager (SCM) to manage the entire purchasing process for an assigned group of Tesla vehicle interior, seating, safety restraints and plastic products. You are responsible of the total spend of your commodity, from the design till the end of life, negotiating new business award, lifetime changes and cost savings You are involved in the development process for new products from an early stage and you are the link between external suppliers and internal customers. You work closely with the Global team to ensure the success of the global strategy. You are also the reference person for the main stakeholders, Engineering, Material Planning and Manufacturing on product groups you manage.

What You’ll Do
  • Responsible for complete sourcing activities and carrying out contract negotiations. This is done by focusing on global commodity strategy, quality, specification, price, and reliability of supply
  • Evaluate supplier business proposals and present recommendations that will result in cost savings, avoidance or containment
  • Evaluate and provide guidance on the final selection of suppliers; Perform value analysis for final selection of supplier tracking and evaluating Total Cost of Ownership
  • Based on key performance indicators, you demand continuous improvement from your suppliers
  • You strive to involve suppliers as early as possible in our development processes
  • You also continuously undertake market research and benchmarking to benefit from new trends in the global supplier market 
  • Work collaboratively with the cross-functional departments such as engineering, supplier industrialization, supplier quality engineering, finance etc.
  • You manage commodity accounts at the operational level supporting the continuity of Tesla manufacturing
What You’ll Bring
  • University qualification in Industrial Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Management, Supply Chain Management.
  • Specific certifications in Supply Chain/Purchasing are preferred.
  • 5 Years+ of experience in Procurement in global industrial environments. Automotive background will be considered as plus.
  • Experience in one or more of the relevant product groups (Interiors, exteriors, seating, Safety Restraints) and have in-depth knowledge of the products, manufacturing processes and different technologies cost structure.
  • Flexible to work in out-of-process standards.
  • You are fluent in English and/or German.
  • Goal-driven personality with good communication and teamwork skills
