About the job:
As a Senior Software Engineer, Assistant Infrastructure, you will be responsible for solving technical problems necessary for Google's runtime to support current and next generation assistive experiences on Google Home devices. You will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. You will write and test product or system development code (primarily in C++), build and maintain production services with robust telemetry/monitoring/testing, scope, execute, and report on multi-quarter projects, analyze logs and experiment analysis, migrate production systems/traffic, and debug distributed systems. You will also perform archaeology on codebases to understand dependencies and control flows and author system and API designs.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience with software development in C++ programming
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products
  • 1 year of experience with software design and architecture
  • 3 years of experience developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks
Good to have:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role
  • Experience in building and running backend/infrastructure and distributed systems

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in C++ programming, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • 3 years of experience developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience in building and running backend/infrastructure and distributed systems.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $161,000-$239,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
