Job Description Summary:

As a software engineer in VAS Engineering team, you will be instrumental in building next generation platform and craft solutions capable of delivering financial, accounting and servicing capabilities to SMB and Microbusinesses. Candidate should be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy driving innovation through rapid prototyping and iterative development. Candidate should be passionate about bringing great experiences to life and comfortable working with full stack tech stacks, development frameworks, and third-party libraries.

On the Value-Added Services (VAS) Engineering team, you will be developing industry leading- and cutting-edge product capabilities for Micro and Small-Scale business globally and powering everyday activities for this business to continue to grow and remove frictions. You will have multiple opportunities to start from Discovery, design, solutioning, build and rollout, complete lifecycle.

Job Description:

  • Work with product management to design or simplify APIs. 
  • Write clean, functional code for the front-end and back-end features. 
  • Actively mentor and coach engineers on technology and engineering aspects. 
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. 

Your day to day:

  • Demonstrate a customer centric mindset as part of day-day work.
  • Ensure that the design and implementation adhere to defined specs and processes.
  • Own end-to-end quality of deliverables during all phases of the software development lifecycle.
  • Understand technical designs by working within PayPal’s cross-functional technology team.
  • Collaborate with core infrastructure teams to satisfy the infrastructure needs for payments solutions.
  • Collaborate between business, product and technology in the process of understanding the requirement and coming up with implementation options
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage continuously changing business needs
  • Provide leadership to others, particularly junior engineers who work on the same team or related product features.
  • Proven experience delivering complex software projects and solutions effectively through Agile methodologies on a regular release cadence.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer focus, ownership, urgency and drive.

What do you need to bring:

  • Bachelor's and /or master’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • 6+ years of experience as frontend programming skills and previous experience as a full stack engineer.
  • 4+ years of experience with JavaScript frameworks such as Angular JS, React and Amber.
  • 4+ years of experience with REST API’s, Web Services, Unit Testing and build tools.
  • Proficiency with fundamental front-end languages such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Proficient in back-end languages including Java, Python, Rails, Ruby, .NET, or PHP.
  • Good understanding and hands on experience with databases such as MySQL/ Oracle etc.
  • Rich object-oriented design and analysis skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills. Attention to detail.
