We are currently seeking a talented and dynamic Women's and Kids Apparel Buyer for an exciting opportunity with our client’s Direct to Consumer team. This pivotal role offers the chance to work across the US and Canada, driving impactful buying strategies and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
About the Role: As the Women's and Kids Apparel Buyer, you will play a crucial role in curating product assortments that resonate with consumers, while ensuring alignment with key business goals such as sales, margin, and inventory turnover. You’ll work closely with the Planning and Allocation, Visual Merchandising, Regional Merchandising, and Supply Planning teams to deliver exceptional results in both stores and eCommerce. With a strong focus on optimizing product assortments, your work will directly influence the success of the company’s offerings in a competitive marketplace.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop strategic assortment plans in units and dollars for both stores and eCommerce buys, aligning with fiscal goals such as sales, margin, and turnover.
- Manage inventory balances across store and eCommerce channels through effective distribution strategies for initial and replenishment buys.
- Regularly assess and react to sales performance, collaborating with cross-functional teams to adjust buying strategies as needed.
- Partner with Planning and Allocation teams to maximize sales potential and ensure efficient inventory turnover.
- Implement and manage markdown strategies, analyzing sales and market trends to optimize margins.
- Collaborate with Regional & Global Merchandising and Marketing teams to align product assortments with consumer demand and market trends.
- Work closely with Visual and Site Merchandising teams to ensure optimal execution both in-store and online.
- Lead and mentor a team of Associate and/or Assistant Buyers, guiding them in achieving professional goals and meeting project deadlines.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other relevant retail applications.
- Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret and apply retail data to business strategies.
- Solid foundation in retail math and financial analysis to support buying decisions.
- Proven leadership capabilities, including experience managing and developing direct reports.
Preferred Skills:
- Previous buying experience in a Direct to Consumer environment.
- Familiarity with SAP, Fiori, or Business Objects systems.
