The Senior Document Control and Technical Writer (DCS/TW) will manage highly technical documentation processes and systems, ensuring that all content is accurate, comprehensive, and adheres to industry standards. This senior role requires a professional with extensive experience in technical writing and document management within complex, high-stakes technical environments such as aerospace, defense, and advanced manufacturing. The DCS/TW will lead the development of document management policies, maintain records and files, and ensure the seamless integration of standards, best practices, and procedures across multi-disciplinary teams.

The Airbus Helicopters Flexrotor Program offers one of the most sophisticated small tactical unmanned aerial systems (STUAS) with vertical take-off and landing (VTOL). It can be used day or night by US and allied forces for a diverse range of intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) on land and at sea.

Your Challenges:
Lead the development and execution of document management policies to ensure efficient, legal, and secure access to sensitive technical content.
Oversee the creation and maintenance of document classification systems to facilitate advanced information capture, search, and retrieval for highly technical content.
Implement and manage complex electronic document processing, retrieval, and distribution systems in collaboration with technical specialists.
Identify and classify highly technical documents and other electronic content based on security level, functionality, and metadata.
Develop, document, and enforce standards, best practices, and system usage procedures, ensuring consistency across all technical documentation and publications.
Lead the organization and development of complex technical documentation, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and adherence to stringent technical and industry standards.
Oversee the maintenance of comprehensive records, files, and version histories, ensuring all documents reflect the most current technical data and revisions.
Provide high-level editing and standardization of technical content produced by engineers, writers, and other technical personnel, ensuring that all material meets professional standards.
Collaborate closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), engineers, and cross-functional teams to ensure all technical publications, including manuals, advisories, and procedures, are detailed, accurate, and user-focused.
Drive the selection and integration of technical visuals such as diagrams, charts, and technical illustrations to support highly technical content.
Align with senior engineers, SMEs, and production personnel to understand and document advanced technical concepts, product technologies, and processes.
Lead the development of advanced templates, style guides, and technical writing workflows, ensuring that the documentation process meets industry best practices and compliance requirements.
Your Boarding Pass:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience.
10 years as a technical writer or editor of technical documentation
5 years of aerospace documentation experience
Demonstrated expertise in understanding and documenting advanced technical, engineering, and scientific concepts.
Proven ability to manage and lead document control processes in highly regulated, complex technical environments.
Strong attention to detail, with the ability to synthesize technical information from multiple sources and ensure documentation accuracy.
Demonstrated experience working with style guides, legal guidelines, and aerospace standards.
Knowledge in working with technical writing and document management software, including Microsoft Office, MadCap Flare, DITA, XML, and Jira.
Physical Requirements:
Onsite: 95% - onsite in Bingen, Washington.
Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings daily
Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds including safety warnings or alarms daily
Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications daily
Equipment Operation: able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment daily
Carrying: able to carry documents, drawings, electronic equipment up to 10lbs daily
Lifting: able to lift documents, drawings, electronic equipment up to 10lbs daily
Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture occasionally
Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer daily
Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving occasionally
Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices daily
Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice rarely
Walking: able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces daily
Personal Protective Equipment required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
Ability to work in the US without current, or future, need for visa sponsorship/work authorization is required for this opportunity.
