Job Description

The Associate Technical Solutions Engineer, Data Analytics at Google Cloud focuses on providing technical support and consulting to enterprise customers. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and resolving customer issues related to Google Cloud's data analytics offerings (e.g., BigQuery), acting as a subject matter expert for internal and external stakeholders, working as part of a global 24/7 support team, and collaborating with product and engineering teams to improve Google Cloud. The role requires in-depth understanding of data analytics architectures, experience with database administration, and strong problem-solving skills. The candidate will work closely with customers on production databases to ensure product readiness, availability, and scalability.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree in STEM or equivalent
2+ years coding experience (Java, C++, Python, etc.)
2+ years in technical support/development
Troubleshooting & root cause analysis
Data analytics expertise (BigQuery)

Good to have:

Experience in technical consulting
Data warehousing/ETL development
Cloud experience (Docker, Kubernetes)
SQL database administration
Experience with high SLO/SLA environments

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience reading or debugging code in one or more of the following: Java, C, C++, .NET, Python, Shell, Perl, JavaScript.
2 years of experience in technical support, professional services, software development, or product operations management.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience in technical consulting on database design and architecture supporting large enterprise customers with high Service Level Objective (SLO) and Service Level Agreement (SLA) requirements.
Experience in data analytics, warehousing, Extract Transform and Load (ETL) development, data science, or other Big Data applications.
Experience working in distributed applications or micro-services in a cloud based environment (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience with SQL database administration, open source software communities, Cloud networking solutions, or distributed computing.
Experience working in a dynamic organization with cross-collaboration across functions.

Responsibilities

Develop an in-depth understanding of Google Cloud's data analytics (e.g., BigQuery) and underlying architectures by troubleshooting, reproducing, and determining the root cause for customer-reported issues, building tools, and faster diagnosis.
Act as consultant and subject matter expert for internal stakeholders in engineering, sales, customer organizations to resolve technical deployment obstacles and improve Google Cloud.
Work as part of a team of engineers/consultants that globally ensure 24-hour customer support. This will include a need to sometimes work non-standard work hours/shifts, and may include weekend work.
Understand customer issues, advocate for their needs with internal teams, including Product and Engineering teams and drive high-quality production.
Work with customers on their production databases to resolve issues and achieve product readiness, availability, and scale.
